* Mario Canton si occupa di cani dal punto di vista tecnico dagli anni ’70. Grazie agli studi scientifici universitari ha approfondito tematiche relative in particolare alla morfologia funzionale nelle razze canine. Per approfondire le varie tematiche coinvolte nello studio dei cani, ha raccolto una notevole biblioteca plurilingue su tematiche riguardanti l’evoluzione nei cani, l’anatomia, la struttura e la morfologia, la cinometria e l’allometria, la genetica, la terminologia specialistica in cinotecnia, le razze e l’allevamento, le manifestazioni cinofile, la biomeccanica e la locomozione, l’energetica e il controllo neuronale del movimento. Ha pubblicato numerosi testi di cinotecnia per “Antonio Crepaldi Editore”, tra i quali due monografie (una sui levrieri ufficialmente riconosciuti ed una sui levrieri e segugi primitivi di tutto il mondo), un prontuario di cinometria, uno studio sulla locomozione delle razze canine, un libro-intervista e una guida bibliografica sulla cinotecnia, ma la sua opera più importante è la corposa trilogia di volumi “Cani e Razze Canine” sulla morfologia funzionale, strutturale e tipologica. È direttore per “Antonio Crepaldi Editore” della collana editoriale “Tecnologia Canina” e ha un sito Internet che si occupa di aspetti tecnici della valutazione delle razze canine e delle ultime novità editoriali in materia (www.dogjudging.com). Inoltre pubblica talvolta articoli tecnici su riviste cinofile specializzate. Dagli anni ’90 tiene seminari e corsi di aggiornamento per associazioni e club di razza.

* Mario Canton has been involved in the study of dogs from a scientific point of view from the 1970’s. Due to his scientific university background, his research has concentrated mainly on functional morphology. In order to understand the various issues involved in the study of dogs, Mario has collected an impressive multilingual library on many of the issues concerning the canines. He owns books on dog evolution, dog anatomy, dog structure and morphology, zoometry applied to dogs (the anatomical measurements of dogs for statistical purposes), allometry, genetics, specialized terminology in dog evaluation, breeds and breeding, canine shows and trials, biomechanics and locomotion, energetics and neural control of movement. He has written and published for “Antonio Crepaldi Publisher” numerous textbooks about dogs including two specialist books on sighthounds, gazehounds and primitive hounds around the world. A manual of canine zoometry, a study on the locomotion of dog breeds and a text on the relationship between conformation and structure. In addition, a book lenght interview and bibliography on dog evaluation and a collection of specialized topics on purebred dogs. His most important work, hovewer, is the substantial trilogy of books “Dogs and Canine Breeds” which is based on functional, structural and typological morphology in dogs. At present he is director for “Antonio Crepaldi Publisher” of the editorial series “Canine Technology” and has a website dedicated to the technical aspects of the assessment of dog breeds. The latest editorial on the subject are on www.dogjudging.com. You will also find technical articles published in canine magazines by him. Since the 1990’s he has held seminars and refresher courses for associations and breed clubs.
